Dog Hair Mittens? (And Day 50!)

Violin

Day 49 – Tiny Violin

Yeah, that’s my 8 year old’s 1/4 size violin.  For some reason it sounds much better when she plays it.

Russian

Day 50 – Russian

I borrowed this costume from some friends who lived in Russia for a couple years.  Everything is 100% authentic (except the vodka in the bottle, which is just water).  The mittens were my favorite, made entirely from dog hair.  Apparently it’s not uncommon for people to scrape dog hair off rugs or floors and make stuff.  Who says Communists aren’t industrious???

Check out this New Book!

If you like clean fiction, check out this brand new book!  Especially if you are even slightly interested in excercise or fitness.

http://www.amazon.com/Dead-Running-ebook/dp/B007PJ70MA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335367126&sr=8-1

Cassidy Christensen is running.

Running from the mercenaries who killed her  parents.

Running from a scheming redhead intent on  making her life miserable.

Running from painful memories that sabotage  her dreams of happiness.

With  two very tempting men competing for her attention, she hopes she’ll finally  have someone to run to, but can she trust either of them? When secrets from her  past threaten her family, Cassidy decides to stop running and fight for her  future.

Without Further Ado…

Without further ado…more bus stop pics.

Actually, has anyone ever used that word in a real sentence?  Ado?  Besides the phrase I already used and ‘much ado about nothing’, I can’t find any actual uses for the word.  It’s even weird on paper if you really look.  Ado.  Hmm.

In case you’re wondering, it means time-wasting bother over trivialities.  So, after a fair amount of ado…more bus stop pics.

Day 47

The book I’m holding in this pic is a primer of songs.  I opened the book randomly and the lyrics on the page were appropriate for temperatures in the teens that morning:

Heigh-ho! January breeze, January breeze made a plaintive moan.

Heigh-ho! What if I should freeze, what if I should freeze in the woods alone?

Darth Vader in Pajamas

I can’t say for sure, but I’d bet this is what Darth Vader looks like when gets out of bed.

Red M&M

Day 44 – Red M&M

Don’t worry, it wasn’t a repeat of the Superbowl commercial.

How Many Stories…

I saw this today while I was out and about and I had to stop and peek inside. Thank goodness it was unlocked. How many stories could this spark?

Tiny Door

Actually I’m not being totally honest. I just wanted to put this on the web so I could Pin it. There, I admitted it.

Gifts and Consequences

I’m proud to announce the release of my newest book, Gifts and Consequences.  It’s Contemporary Fiction, a departure from the Young Adult Fantasy of Jabberwocky and Hatter.

Gifts and Consequences is a great pick for book clubs.  It includes a list of questions to help jump start your discussion.

Here are a few of the reviews I’ve received so far:

-  To me it felt like a combination of the Will Smith movie “7 Pounds” and the Nicholas Sparks book “The Notebook”

-  Best book I’ve read all year!

-  What a GREAT novel. It’s been several days since I finished reading this and yet I still find it occupying my thoughts.

-  The best $2.99 I’ve ever spent!

(2 of those reviews were written by men.  How cool is that?)

For more information about the book itself, check out the page on my website.

The cover (which was designed by my wife, Jodie) has already won an award:

Read LDS Publisher’s comments about the cover here.

Gifts and Consequences is available on Kindle.  Paperbacks will be out by the end of March!

I’d be eternally grateful for help getting the word out and for any reviews you post!

Fireman

 Tuba

Day 42 – How do you hold this thing???

A friend wrote this on my FB page after driving by this morning:

“I was minding my own business, driving my daughter to school on today’s crisp, winter morning when, to my surprise…I was priveleged to witness Daniel Coleman standing outside next to the highway playing a tuba.  What the heck?!!?  Thanks for making my day!”

Waving at the Bus in Balmy Cache Valley

It’s been one of the most snowless winters on record here in Wellsville, Utah.  I’ve been planning this one since the beginning of the year, just had to wait for a good storm.  It finally arrived.

Swimming at the bus stop

Day 39 – Swimming, anyone?

Day 38 – I got a bite!

If you’re wondering what all this bus stop nonsense is about, check out this post.

Thanks for stopping by!  If you haven’t already voted for your favorite book cover of 2011, jump over to the LDS Pulisher Blog and vote.   Gifts and Consequences is a finalist!  Check out the next post for more details.

Come Judge a Book by Its Cover!

Last week, Gifts and Consequences (to be released at the end of this month) won its category in a cover contest at LDS Publisher.  This week the winners of each category are vying for the overall best cover as judged by readers of the blog.  Take a look at the finalists and vote for your favoriteLDS Publisher

What makes me really excited about this is my wife, the talented and beautiful Jodie Coleman, designed the cover!   The cover she designed is the only cover of a self-published book in the finals and is up against some major, nationwide publishers.

Gifts and Consequences

The LDS Pulisher blog is a great reference for information about books published by LDS authors (members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints), including Orson Scott Card, Brandon Sanderson, David Farland, Anita Stansfield, Dan Wells, Tyler Whitesides, Amber Argyle, Obert Skye, Robison Wells, and many, many others.  Very few of the books are religious in nature.  It’s just a great blog that profiles a network of similar writers.

You can find more information on Gifts and Consequences here.  It will be out March 1, 2012.

LTUE and ePubbing

I recently spent a thoroughly enjoyable weekend at Life, the Universe, and Everything (a huge writing symposium here in Utah), and got a ton of questions regarding epublishing. I’ve also been answering quite a few questions through email from friends who are jumping into the e-pubbing world. I’ve decided to compile some of the questions and post them on my blog.

Starting next Monday I’ll put up a post a week regarding e-publishing and self-publishing. If you have any questions you’d like answered, drop me an email at dcolemanbooks (at) gmail.com.

In other news, HATTER is #22 on one of Amazon’s German site Top 100 lists. Take a look:
Amazon Bestseller-Rang: #3.037 Bezahlt in Kindle-Shop (Siehe Top 100 Bezahlt in Kindle-Shop)
Nr. 22 in Kindle-Shop > eBooks > Fremdsprachige eBooks > Englisch > Kinderbücher > Romane & Erzählungen > Science Fiction, Fantasy, Krimis & Horror > Science Fiction, Fantasy, & Magie
Nr. 71 in Kindle-Shop > eBooks > Fremdsprachige eBooks > Englisch > Fantasy & Science Fiction > Fantasy
Nr. 87 in Englische Bücher > Fantasy & Science Fiction > Fantasy > Epen

My German’s not great, but I’m pretty sure that’s the list of Children’s Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Of course, it might be the list of Top 100 Borscht Recipe Books.

Either way, I’ll take it.
